A Whole Fresh New Year...

WHEW!  Christmas is over and the New Year is here.  Christmas, for moms, no matter how simple you try to keep it, is like running a marathon (not that I'd know what running a marathon is like, I've never done one!) it's run, run, run, and do, do, do, and then it's done, done, done.

(And sometimes we get done in and run down in the process, don't we?)

We are back in Michigan and the flu that Jamie and Thad had while we were in Alabama visiting got to our oldest son, Mark before we left.  I thank God I didn't catch the flu while we were making the trip back, but I got it the first night we were home.  I'm still not "over it" but I feel much better, feeling somewhat human again.

My back hurts from laying in bed all day, I can't even remember the last time I did that.  I also can't remember the last time I had the flu like this and wow!  It was a doozy!

The stomach flu is no fun, but would have been extra grueling if I'd had to go through it in the back seat of a Suburban.  I'm so thankful to have gotten home first.

So this post is just to catch up with you.  I haven't taken down Christmas yet, heck I haven't even gotten unpacked from our trip south!

Taking down my 2010 calendar when we got home and putting in its place a fresh, clean, empty calendar for 2011, it got me to thinking.  I am looking forward to this New Year we've been blessed with.  But looking back on 2010, I thought I'd ask...

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2010?

(I think you already know WHO was my best thing to happen to me in 2010!)

First I'd like to say that I hope you are feeling better soon. Second - I love the pics with the huge old fashioned Christmas lights.
Third - I think the best thing that happened to me in 2010 is my spiritual growth. I have a confidence in my Lord that no matter what happens around me - as long as I stay focused on Him I have nothing to fear.

Well, if you had to get sick, at least you were able to be in your own bed. It's so awful to be sick when you're away from home. Hope you're feeling better!
2010 was a good year, but seeing my Mom get out of the hospital after a week long stay was the best!
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
Your little guy is just so cute!!
Glad you're starting to feel better. We've all had different bugs here, but I was the lucky one. I got a mild and short-lived stomach bug...on New Year's Eve.
Looking back at 2010, my husband and I traveled to Minnesota to attend LauraPalooza (a Laura Ingalls Wilder conference). I had a wonderful time. On the way home, it was all my husband's choice (after all he went to the conference with me!) and he introduced me to the wonderful world of antique shops - now one of our favorite hobbies!
The trip was great, but...within a week of returning home, my mother passed away after six years of medical problems and much pain. She's not suffering anymore and she's with my dad (he passed away in 1992). I miss her so so much that it hurts.
Everything good about 2010 is overshadowed by losing my mom...2011 has got to be a better year.

Hope you get well soon - no fun to have the stomach bug.
The best thing of 2010 - to "finish" our house. Although there are still tasks to do, we are living in it comfortably after 2+ years in a camping trailer!

Get well! That is the first thing! The best part of 2010 is having two kids come home from a war zone. Having them home safe for a year is a blessing! Sad they are getting to redeploy later this year, but will cross that bridge when it comes. Happy New Year!

soooo sorry the flu gotcha. May it vanish. Get to feeling better soon.

I was thinking I wouldn't get the head cold thing. It has lingered and tonite i have to admit...it got me. This took 6 days.

Christmas decorations are slowly disappearing 'round here. That's alright as long as they go away by July. haha
