The Difference Between Dyed Brown & White Eggs

Formerly brown eggs on the left: white on the right

Do not dye brown eggs if you prefer the pastel colors of the dyed white egg: the brown eggs turn out into a much deeper, darker shade than their white cousins that were dipped into the same cup of dye.

I thought I'd show you the difference, because you may not like the results of the darker colors. My boys happen to LOVE the darker colors, and me, being the girl that I am, I do prefer the white eggs dyed for Easter --they take on the magical pastel hue I remember from a childhood of dyeing white eggs.

And, to make your own Easter egg dye: add at least 2 T. of white vinegar to a cup that has drops of food color; then add your hot water and stir thoroughly before dipping your eggs into it.

A little Easter display from my sister's home (I went up north to see her yesterday and we spent a pleasant afternoon.)
