Found in the Basement....

Soon these old cabinet doors will be a part of a "new" old salvaged pieced cupboard. They were the last thing in the basement left from the days of the original owner of our farmhouse. It looked like a low built-in cabinet that had once been in the dining room. Because it had been a built-in at one time, it wouldn't stand on its own.

We hope to remake it (there was a lot of water damage to the piece resulting from years and years of sitting in our "Michigan basement", the sides were bead board, most of it rotted. We're salvaging any of the bead board we can, but the doors are the only fully salvageable pieces).

This is the before, soon I hope to be able to show the "after"!

These are my favorite types of projects....it's fun to see what ideas we can come up with and because the pieces are "found" there is no pressure. More than likely it will become a painted piece because all of the wood will not be matching or aged the same. I thought the doors were beautiful and hubby thought they were repairable. We will keep you up to date on the project as it goes along.

So tell me, how was your Easter?

It's always nice to have a project with old wood. Carry on the use of old pieces, giving it a new life.

We had family here for lunch on Easter after church. My little granddaugter is just a delight at 22 months. She saw me coming from the garage as her aunt was holding her to go out and get the newspaper. She said "Ganma, ganma" when she saw me. I'm usually here when she gets here but not this time. She was looking for me when she got into the house. We had a good time. The Wii is fun to play games with each other, even though I lost at bowling...100 pins! It was fun! :0)

Hi Joni,
I am loving those cabinet doors and can't wait to see finished product....I bet you've got something good cooked up for them. Post it when you can....Your flowers are looking so pretty. I also meant to comment on a post you had about impatiens....I love love love them and have decided they are the best bang for the color (buck too!) My daughter is getting married in June in our back yard and those on my main plan of color action (pinks and corals)...I'll see what happens!
