Cozy@Home: Fall Farmhouse

Fall is always an inspiring time to decorate. Mother nature does her part, and we just help her out a little bit.

She gives us clues about the colors: we follow.

I thought I'd show you some pictures of the fall decorating now that it's done. I just realized there are no corn shocks but oh, well....our corn in the garden didn't grow for some reason this year and we don't have our own, I kind of miss them. They add so much.

I never decorate the same way twice, except maybe at Christmastime; for fall, it's always something a little different and that's what makes it fun.

(See how HUGE this old tree is, and I couldn't even get the top third of it in the picture! This baby drops some leaves, you betcha!)

Over the years, I've built up a small inventory of fun old items picked up for a dollar or so at garage sales. This year, I made up a corner with old farm tools, and a big old milk can bought at a neighbor's garage sale for $5 all situated in front of the old oak wagon wheel I've had for years.

The wagon wheel used to sit out year round, but when the weather started taking its toll, I retired it and it only comes out in the fall.

The pumpkins we generally grow ourselves, and we buy the straw and the mums from a local farmer...just help ourselves and put our money in the slot.

This is the scene across the road of our neighbor's beautiful farm and the woods behind it. We have some of the best neighbors in the world.

The old wooden bucket here was salvaged from the trash when my husband was helping clean an old basement in the hardware store. He knew I'd love it, so he put it in the back of the truck and brought it home.

There's the old oak cow stanchion from the old barns that were on the property when we bought it, and the old ramp is also a salvaged item from the barns.

Michigan has enjoyed a spectacular fall so far,
and...

I am hoping you have a beautiful fall, too!

I'm LITTLE BIT giddy today, our daughter and our little grandson are coming for a visit. I'm busy getting ready and we are all so excited! You'll understand if posting is a little sparse next week, right?

XOXO
Joni

Love what you've done to decorate outside. I have 4 gourds by our door. The leaves that fall from the tree add their own crunch to the time of years. Thanks for sharing!
