Ayn Rand was something else, she rejected the idea that people in a community should approach each other with charity , compassion and altruism. According to her,a charitable heart is for suckers, selfishness is the only way to go! One of her important works is entitled " the Virtue of Selfishness". She would ask herself "what's in it for me? "Where is my profit?" She is a vulture capitalist. Read her works - she is a known atheist.
Kathleen: Ayn recognized an evil, tyrannical government. Nothing you could tell me about her could disqualify her from stating truth from an overreaching government.
Kathleen is correct, to follow her Ayn Rand's belief is to go against anything and everything Christian and God fearing in this world. She is not someone I would have wanted to look up to.
Still, Ayn Rand is not someone I would quote, you have to have the full package, you need to know what she stood for in all aspects of life, again, not someone I would reference, look up to or quote, she was did not believe in God and was a communist, all the things you seem to be against.
Ayn Rand may have been an atheist, but to say she was a communist, as the Anonymous commenter said, is false. One has only to look at her statements on Government to know she was NOT a communist. When people don't want to recognize the truth she states, they attack her validity. She certainly understood that when a government grows too powerful, the individual has no power.
I think it's a shame that someone can't post VERY TRUE statements on her own blog without ridicule. I happen to agree that Ayn Rand is not to be looked up to, but every human being has a bright spot, however misguided they might be in certain beliefs they hold. Discarding EVERYTHING a person says is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

That is where we are heading, how sad!
Yes. Our nation is fading into a pitiful shadow of what it once was.

Martha, did I say I looked up to her? All I did was to quote something she saud about when to know you are doomed by your government. Nothing more.

and she also supported abortions!
