Unexpected Brilliance..

Watch for it in unexpected places...

Do you appreciate the guts it takes to do things a little differently than expected?

Ethereal Back Road Beauty...

Sometimes, the shot straight out of the camera is the best...not very often, but sometimes.

Sometimes, those trees in the ditches work perfectly as your frame for a shot that you cannot wait to get home to look and see how it turned out; if it's going to be as beautiful as it looked...

Just an unplanned, stray tree, born of a bounced and buried acorn, that is one of the most beautiful sculptures ever, when it's naked, cold, and frosty with the sun willing to be the back lighting to accent its finest features.

Today's morning was a magical, ethereal place, one that when I saw it, I knew I had to grab my camera and go out and drive some of the back roads around here and shoot...

What's the magic? Well, the fog hung low, crystals had formed on all of creation, making everything beautiful, even the ugly ordinary weeds.

The sun was big, climbing the morning sky, and with all its powerful might, it was working very hard to get through that fog...but oh, the few minutes I was able to capture the filtered morning light was precious and I wished it would go on and on.

I took no more than ten minutes and this is what I got for you...I hope you like it, a special gift from mother nature to you, captured in a tiny little way, by me....your bumbling roadside shooter.

I know you'll appreciate the soft yolk of the sun here, reflecting off the railroad tracks.

And an old barn...just because I love them so much and I know that you do, too.

So do you have a favorite?

Claw Foot Table: What a Bargain!

This is something I needed after the kitchen remodel. Our old table was too big and bulky for the new layout.

My patience paid off, I paid $195 delivered for this claw foot solid oak pedestal table with two leaves; I consider it a bargain compared to what a person would pay for a new table of this quality.

I will still need to find a set of chairs--matched or not; but that will be another enjoyable project for spring!

It fits in the space perfectly and frees up much needed room in the kitchen that I knew we'd need. The old table is going to my son's new home, his dining area is the perfect shape and size for it, I'm loving how that's working out! (Our old table can be seen here. Just scroll down.)

I'd LOVE to paint it but I know that will be a fight for me, as for some reason by husband HATES painted wood!
