The Joys of Summer: Berries

Levi was in Michigan just in time for the last of our strawberry crop...

I love seeing his tiny fingers working so hard to pick up his little pieces of strawberries.

And for the beginning of the raspberries...and does he love them both!

"Want one?"

What a joy to watch those tiny fingers reach for and put in his little mouth, fresh berries, right off the plant, washed and juicy and tasty...tastier than anything you can buy!

And his papa sure enjoyed watching him eat them:  giving good things to our children and grandchildren is certainly one of the great joys in life.

Seeing the innocence and trust in the eyes on such a small, wonderful face makes me wonder how anyone can hurt such a little child.

The verdict just came in an Caylee Anthony, and I will never understand it.  I don't want to convict the jury here, I am sure they understood their job, and took their oath seriously.  I am sure that the state did the best they could to prove beyond a reasonable doubt...but justice, I feel has not been served to that sweet little girl.

I think there is more to the story, and that the mother and father know something.  I also think, from what I saw--and I did NOT watch all the proceedings--that the family is dysfunctional and the mother of this child did not act like someone who was upset at a missing child.  But I know that you cannot convict her of partying while a child is missing.

I DO KNOW that JUSTICE will come to the person who did this, and any who chose to cover it up.  My heart aches for Caylee.

The person who snuffed out this life too early will face Someone, someday, Who is infinitely bigger than they are...and they will pay.

In the eyes of God, harming a child is worthy of hanging a millstone around your own neck and drowning yourself.

Matthew 18:6 says

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Hi Joni
Your little grandson is so sweet and adorable! I'm sure you are treasuring your time with him. He's definitely photogenic!
I am still in shock over the Casey Anthony verdict. I agree there is a whole lot more that we will never know. How can a person that lied and said her little girl was with a "nannie"(who didn't even exist) for 30 days, not be involved in her disappearence? The whole drowning story is such a farce too.
We do know she will face the ultimate judge one day. And whatever has been hidden will then be reveiled.

I, too, am heartsick over the verdict in the Casey Anthony trial. All the lies and secrets and waiting for a month to tell someone that that precious baby was missing...... it just doesn't add up. I cannot figure out how the jury came to their conclusion. And all I can think is that Casey has gotten away with a terrible crime.....
On a happier note, your grandson is so beautiful -- his little fingers too cute as he tries to pick up his snack. What a joy he must be!

She may have outrun the law, but God's justice is eternal...and this crime will not go unpunished.

Ugh...my heart just aches for the child though. Sad sad story.

But my spirits are lifted when I see those beautiful eyes of your grandsons! What a cutie! You are one lucky grandma.

Little Levi is so adorable and it sure looks like he's enjoying those strawberries and raspberries. Thanks to you generously sharing those spring raspberry shoots, our grandbaby may be enjoying raspberries next year too!

Shocking that the jurors came to the conclusion Casey Anthony didn't kill her little baby. The defense's arguments didn't make sense: she did it because she was allegedly molested, but she actually didn't do it? The baby drowned and the mother partied for a month with the baby in the trunk of her car, but she should be acquitted? The former detective/grandfather covered it up? Which is it? Too many stories and not one of them makes sense. I'm glad this monster will face the ultimate judgement someday...

Amen to that Joni. I was heartbroken that no one is going to pay for the death of that beautiful baby. I will keep my opinions to myself and I will not watch another word of it on tv. I know there are reasons they had to reach the verdict of innocent but I just can't listen to any of it anymore. That baby is dead and everyone is getting off scott free. I'm devastated.

You would think after three years and millions of dollars we would have some answers and see justice for Caylie, but we got neither.
Ultimately God is in control and she will answer to Him someday.

I didn't think they would come back with murder one. Just wasn't enough evidence to prove premeditation. But I seriously thought manslaughter or child endangerment. Seriously, someone who doesn't know or says they don't know where a child is for a month was guilty of endangerment. I am just sickened and hope that that some on the jury just didn't cave because they were so very tired of it dragging on.

I thought of that same verse also. Her lack of concern about her 'missing' child seems to point the finger directly at her. I thought the same thing---justice WILL be done--if not in this life, then in the next. That is my consolation.

Your little guy is really sweet. I've noticed the same thing when they eat, those cute little fingers picking up the food and enjoying it. One of the finer things to life to observe! Enjoying all your photos!
