It's the Little Things That are Big..

Because he brings home little presents he finds for me, like these older pieces of enamelware that he finds in his travels around the route of the hardware stores he supervises.

These are items that have been on the shelves for years and years and this one is bent, dented and chipped: he buys them for me because he knows how much I love the old stuff.

It's little but it's big.

They don't cost much of anything, yet gifts like this are better than flowers, gourmet meals at fancy restaurants, or just about anything; and I think these are beautiful. They'll get used for just about anything and everything; especially in late summer when it's time for canning.

I also know he loves me because of that porch railing, each piece he cut out and sanded to rebuild our porch back to the way it was...it's something I LOVE very much and especially because he cared enough to do it. It took a lot of time and patience. It's one of the best things about our house and I take pleasure in it every time I look at it. (In the top photo, you can see how the pieces, when they're put together, form a heart at the top and at the bottom....!)

Sometimes, the most thoughtful gestures are the simplest: yet sweetest and the most dear to my heart.

Thumbs up to the porch railings! I have dreamed of that for our old cottage but I don't think hubby has enough patience to do our wrap around porch! :-)

What hardware store does hubby supervise, out of curiosity? I know you mentioned a Do It Best chain earlier. At work at a Do It Best family owned store. I like it. Fun when hubby brings home fun stuff from travels! :0)

I so agree with you Joni, I am not a high maintenance woman. I delight in the strangest, littlest things in life. It is a blessing to have a man that knows you! Your hubs must be a sweet man to bring you such "treasures"! Have a wonderful weekend and happy Springtime!
Hugs,
Dee
