This is something I needed after the kitchen remodel. Our old table was too big and bulky for the new layout.
My patience paid off, I paid $195 delivered for this claw foot solid oak pedestal table with two leaves; I consider it a bargain compared to what a person would pay for a new table of this quality.
I will still need to find a set of chairs--matched or not; but that will be another enjoyable project for spring!
It fits in the space perfectly and frees up much needed room in the kitchen that I knew we'd need. The old table is going to my son's new home, his dining area is the perfect shape and size for it, I'm loving how that's working out! (Our old table can be seen here. Just scroll down.)
I'd LOVE to paint it but I know that will be a fight for me, as for some reason by husband HATES painted wood!

I have the same table in my kitchen/dining area. I love love it. Small for the two of us, and can be open when the gang is here.
It's beautiful! I know what you mean, tho. Most men like the look of wood and balk at painting anything with a good wood finish already on it!
Beautiful table! I have a round oak table too.. not clawfoot though. I'd love to have a clawfoot one. (:
Lovely! I have a small square oak wood finished top table, but the legs are painted black. The best of both worlds!
Oh my goodness. I am so jealous.
I have been looking for a pedestal table for two summers. I keep finding them @ yard sales & fleamarkets for $200 or more. Definitely not in my price range. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I'm sure it will be lovely ;)
Beautiful table. Guess your husband is a lot like mine and my son in law. What is it about guys and painted furniture?
