A Soak in the Tub!

Gather a few reading materials...light a few candles, get the bubbles goin'!

Turn off the lights, turn on the little lamp so reading is easier...

check to make sure the water is hot enough to make me turn all red....
(holy smokes, look at those flip flop tan lines!!)

make sure you've got plenty of towels...all ready....climb in!

It's rare, but sometimes I just feel like I need to sit in the tub and soak awhile. I'm normally a shower girl myself, I like how fast it is: in and out, a great time saver. We grew up at home with ONLY one tub in one small bathroom (with nine kids and more than two adults most of the time....amazing!) so to me, a shower was what I'd always wanted. So for 27 years now, it's been showers every day.
*
BUT...for a change of pace, it's nice sometimes to lay back and light a candle or two and read a book or a magazine. That's what I did tonight after we got done mowing the lawn in the windy, chilly, cloudy weather. I felt chilled to the bone and that deep tub was calling my name.
*
It's also rare that I buy a PEOPLE magazine, but I did that today, (had to know what's up with John & Kate, sadly) and I read my way almost the whole way through that while I sat in the quiet and listened to nothing but the bubbles poppin'.
*
Ahhhhhhhhhhh......
Peace and Quiet.
*
But I feel lots better now after that nice, long soak.
*
(Maybe that's what John and Kate need....a good long and quiet soak, on a weekend away, together, to visit and remember where they started from. And then they could watch their wedding video afterward, and maybe thumb through all their pictures or scrapbooks, and remember all their blessings. And maybe there'd be apologies for poor decisions, agreement to counseling, and they'd think it was worth working together to make their way out of this mess and keep their family together.)

We used to live near John and Kate (in fact my son and his wife are just a mile or two away from them!). I do not know them personally but do have friends who do and friends who helped them after the babies were born. Sad to say but most of those folks are no longer friends and very few people from that area have nice things to say! My son manages a store and has seen them shopping during church, after they drop the kids off at Sunday school. Lots of gossip but bottom line is my heart breaks for those children. Kate has serious issues and unfortunately her issues have impacted lots of folks.

Oh and I too am a shower person but this new house has this huge tub so every once in a while I take the plunge- for the most part it is just one more big place to keep clean!

Happy Weekend!

I am a shower person, too. Grew up like you with one bathroom. My mom wouldn't let us shower because she was afraid the steam would loosen the ceramic tiles and they'd fall off! So only baths were allowed! We now have a hot tub and that solves my chilled to the bone, need a long soak problems.

As for Jon and Kate, the best thing they can do is get the cameras out of their lives!

I am a hard core bath girl, scalding, every night just about no matter what. I have been known to not even turn the cold water on. And I LOVE to read in the tub.

PS: I don't even know who John and Kate are but I own every People magazine with Diana on the cover!

I adore a good tub soak; just today bought lavender epsom salts for a good soak. Your tub looks quite inviting; hope you truly enjoyed and were rested and refreshed.

awwwwh...yes...you talked me into it. Actually, I take a soak in the tub almost every night and still take a shower in the morning. It just feels so gooood. :)

I'm a shower girl too, but every now and then, I like you take a long "tubby" as my boys used to call it. Sad about Jon and Kate... sadder for the kids.

I am a shower girl too, but every once in a while I enjoy a candlelit soak in the tub. Your tub is beautiful and the way you have fixed it up makes a bath look very appealing.

Ooh, that looks SO NICE! I am with you, a shower girl, but I love a nice bath every now and then. And if I had a tub like yours I would definitely be enjoying more baths!

I LOVE a good soak in my big tub and some good reading material to go along with it! A wonderful way to end a day, and makes me so grateful for indoor plumbing!

Baths are a lovely thing...my daughter and I were just in a store called "LUSH" yesterday and they sell bath ball fizzes in all the scents. I couldn't choose! My mother-in-law bought me a bath rack and it's lovely to just relax by candlelight and slow your mind down from 60mph to 2~

I just had to send you a quick link http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=138766

The Reading Eagle is the local paper for Jon and Kate and the comments that are being left there about The Gosselins are unbelievable-in response to an article the paper did on them this past week. Gossip that I am not really even interested in but thought you would like to see what the locals are saying!
