Random Goodness!

Surprise in the mail! A package full of goodies!

It contained carefully and beautifully bundled hollyhock seed....

A surprise came in the mail today! It was a gorgeously presented package with a handwritten note from the famous, talented, hard-working and funny Parisienne Farmgirl! I won it for the "Ugliest Laundry Room" contest....what an honor! *Ü* But look at the goodies!

*First, a little "Mary Englebreit" magnetic closure tablet for my purse, always love me some Mary E.! (How did you know, Ang?)

*Precious seed for some hollyhocks to live here on the farm...all from her own yard...(she's such a gardener!)

* two lovely french "menu" papers

*a book by Susan Branch, called LOVE, From the Heart of the Home....full of beauty and wonderful words and recipes! I can't wait to sit down and get a good look through all of the pages. Susan Branch makes beautiful books!

*a book called "PROVENCAL INTERIORS" French Country Style in America...lots of eye candy in there! Below I've shown a page spread in each book....you can see I'm in for some pleasant hours with a cup or a glass of tea on the front porch!

THANK YOU, ANG, for all these wonderful gifts! You are more than kind, a very generous blogger! See more of Angela's blog here!

Breakfast recipes...from Susan's book...

A room full of blue gingham....ooohlala!

Now....for some Mother Love...

Mr. Farmhouse came looking for the camera the other day when we were busy washing windows. He was upstairs, and looking into the big tree out beside our house and, from that level, he caught a glimpse of this mother bird sitting on her nest. You can barely see her, she does such a good job, and God made her just so she'd blend in with the tree! We'll be checking on her progress with the binoculars from time to time. I think she's the gal who normally builds her nest in our hanging asparagus ferns on the porch, we were just late getting them up this year and she had to choose another spot. I hope she's still there after the thunderstorms and strong winds we had last night and strong winds we had all day. SO SWEET! Below is a closer shot of her....

And now...a little peek at some more MOTHER LOVE....

My favorites cards, for Mother's Day or ANYtime... are the ones with handwritten notes....and of course it never hurts when they write.."To the BEST MOM EVER"....(when really, you know it's not true but you're glad that they think so, and that they see past your muddle ups and mistakes and know that you loved them the best you knew how, and that you loved their daddy, too!) Thank you to my family for a gentle, loving Mother's Day

Oh what great gifts. That's quite the bag of seeds too. You should have tons next year.
A friend gave me some seeds from her garden last year. I can't wait till they finally bloom.

Yes, those are some nice gifts, and cards. I hope the hollyhocks grow well and we see pictures of them blooming on your blog!

And pictures of the dust ruffle you're sewing up too!

What a sweet parcel to receive. I still have the seeds I was given from a few years ago ... wonder if they will still grow?
