GOODY GOODY GUMDROPS!

Every now and then, having a husband working in the hardware business pays off! (We met almost thirty years ago--working together in a hardware store; proof that I've never been normal, most girls want to cut hair or work in a clothing store, I hired in as an office manager for a small chain of hardware stores! To tell the truth, it's much easier working with a group of men than a group of women, anyday! Plus, I can hold my own with the guys and know a whole lot of names of things that a girl usually doesn't know....male fittings, female fittings, for instance: do YOU know the difference? Hehehe! But that's a whole different post. On to today's business!)

Today, he brought me home something PRETTY, FUN and GOOD from the hardware..this does not happen too often. Sometimes hardware can be boring, you know, nuts and bolts, fertlizer and plungers...but he ordered in a bunch of THESE (he has good taste!) and I could choose from ORANGE (nope), ROBIN'S EGG BLUE (maybe!), BRIGHT GREEN (nope!), or BRIGHT RED. You can see what I chose. I'm still thinkin' about the ROBIN'S EGG BLUE, I have a real soft spot for that color, but with my porch and the trim on the house, red seemed to be the right choice.

You would not believe how cheap these are. They're PVC (which to me means lightweight, easy to move when I need to mow and to clean!) and retail for under $20! I just said "GOODY GOODY GUMDROPS!" when I saw these in the back of his pickup tonight!

Now, I think I have some pillows or cushions to make that involve stars and stripes!

Amen sister to working with men, there can be so much drama in an office full of women. lol!!!
Those are fantastic!! I bet you were squealing with delight and what a great price!!! I haven't seen them in PVC, I need some for my front porch. Great eye popping red too!! What a sweet DH.

Love the chairs! I did not know you could buy them in RED-my favorite color! I actually spray painted white ones with the plastic spray paint. They are perfect!

Before I left work to stay home, I worked as an office manager in the maintenance department of a large factory. I was me & 12 men. But it was the best job I ever had. And I can tell you all kinds of things about electrical issues, mechanical issues, etc.
Those chairs are gorgeous!

I have some red Adirondacks, too. My kids gave them to me for Mother's Day last year, but they weren't PVC or $20. Maybe I should get some more....Love them!

I hear you on the working with men!
Women can be such Divas! The chairs are great! I've been meaning to get a couple of the blue ones but haven't done it yet!

Good morning Joni :)

I LOVE them! Any color would have been fabulous, but I think the red is perfect :)

Oh and about the iron... I haven't bought a new one in ... um... about 20 years. It's heavy, but it works like a charm and we've been friends a long time, so until it dies I'll never stray ;)

I love these chairs! And I'm so jealous! We bought some before they started making them in these gorgeous colors--mine are a dull grayish color--I guess to mimic weathered wood. I want new blue ones, but unfortunately ours are still in good shape so hubby won't splurge--maybe I could ask for new ones for Christmas!

As a matter of fact I do know the difference between male and female fittings -smile-. The chairs are lovely and I've always, for the most part, enjoyed working with men more than women. As yous say, less drama.

How sweet of him to bring those home! They look great and will be easy to hose off and keep clean.

Love your new chairs and I think you chose the perfect color. Your photo makes me want to sit down with a glass of lemonade and enjoy the beauty of summer.

What a beautiful red! I love the chairs and I too am married to a hardware store man. I love that he can do just about anything and that has in turn rubbed off on me....well not anything when it comes to me but I will try. I know the difference to the male/female plumbing parts as well and I love being his helper in my honey do's! Thanks for sharing your lovely chairs....I will have to see what my hubby can do to bring some of these home in the back of his pick up truck.

I totally agree with you on getting along with men is easier than women. I always had a lot of guy friends and only a couple girl friends all growing up. Girls are just WAY too judgemental! =) I was very lucky to have worked in an office with a couple girls that were very down to earth though, thank goodness! Anyway, your chairs are gorgeous! Way to go! Can't wait to see them with cushions, those will be wonderful this summer!

I love those chairs!! And only $20!! That is awesome!! I think the plastic chairs are so much easier to deal with. The big wooden ones are a major pain to move when it is time to do the lawn. Your new ones look fabulous!! :)

I remember from my days working in a hardware store how funny it was how some men liked to educate a girl on which were male and female plumbing parts, (dirty old farts!)but the gentlemen were always slightly embarassed when they had to ask for a male or female coupling! It was cute to wait on the guys who tucked their head and just grabbed the part to avoid needing to ask for it!
I might just have to order a few of those red chairs myself... if I ever get grass planted in my yard they'll be easy to move for mowing, but right now all I grow is rocks!

Your porch looks very inviting and the colors of the flag, flowers and chairs are so crisp I can almost feel the wind blowing and smell the freshly cut grass as I look at your beautiful photo! Loved this post.
