SCENIC SUNDAYS: At the Cross

This barn sits in a pastoral valley in Alabama, Spring 2011.
I enjoyed the unusual colors of black and green, very striking.

At the Cross

Alas, and did my Savior bleed?
And did my Sovereign die?
Would he devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?

CHORUS
At the cross, at the cross
Where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Was it for sins that I had done.
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity, grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide,
And shut his glories in,
When Christ the mighty Maker, died
For man, His creature's sin.

This might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears.
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt mine eyes to tears.

But drops of  grief can ne'er repay
The debt of love I owe;
Here, Lord, I give myself away,
'Tis all that I can do.

Go here to listen to the melody of this old hymn.

I can remember singing this hymn at Church as a child. You just don't hear the old hymns anymore. Love that old barn! Where in Alabama is it, if you don't mind my asking? Have a great day!

That's a blessing whether sand or read! I am thankful that I received my sight! Sight is a wonderful thing to have, but the realization that Christ is real, that He paid my sin debt on the cross and I will spend eternity with Him....now THAT is a sight indeed! My eyes were opened and I hope many, many will be this blessed time of year.
Happy Sunday, friend!
