Retro Housewife Vintage Apron Collection

*
I'd collected aprons over the summer from garage sales and thrift stores, (and borrowed a few more from vintage-loving friends!) and as many guests as could wore an apron for the bridal shower (and seemed to enjoy it!) I thought I'd show you the details of each of my aprons, I've already returned the ones that I borrowed, I should have photographed them, too. They were all unique, and we know that's because they were all usually homemade!
*
All of mine are vintage except for the last one, which I purchased new somewhere, and I wish I knew where I bought it because I'd like to go back for more! I thought you might like to see the detail on the gingham ones, and the nice pleatwork. And, ric rac is found on all but one of them, and seems to be an embellishment that goes with aprons like the strings. There's nothing like these old beauties!
*
I had bought a month or more ago, a nice vintage yellow chippy rack in anticipation for finally hanging these in the kitchen when I was done using them for the shower, but do you think I can find that thing, now that I need it? (I swear, sometimes I think I'm going daft!) I was so looking forward to hanging each one, but as usual, I've hidden something too well and the joke's on me.
*
My favorite apron has to be the top one with the tiny rosy print that reminds me of a feed sack, and also the vintage gingham ones with the embroidery work. I think the pleats are so much more flattering than just gathers, too. The peach one seems to be the kind of apron that's not really for work, it's for whipping out after all the hard work's done and dinner's on the table, just for looks.

My fave is also the 1st one. I use my aprons daily, and prefer the full aprons over the half...I am messy all over and the full gives me the best coverage!

You were so lucky to have found them in such good condition! A lot of the ones I have found are a little worn, but I think that can add such interest. I am also less likely to get freaky when my kids use them.. ;) Love your collection!! I would love to find that many!! :)

Hi:
I was just stopping by to see what you were up to. For some silly reason my hand, which was so much better, is really hurting today so I am not up to typing. So I made this little message to let you know I still came by...and I loved your post because I always do!

Those aprons are just soooo nice. We wear our aprons here every day, we prefer full aprons over half aprons mosly prairie pinafore styles. Grace.

My favorite is the one with the yellow roses. I love vintage aprons and have lots of them. I can't pass them up when they only cost 25 cents. They were really imaginative in the old days when they made their aprons. They are so pretty.
