New Beginnings....Little Miracles

A little miracle. A sunrise...

It's amazing how just a few moments can take you from this brilliant sunrise where the sun looks to be a small speck on the eastern horizon, and quickly changes to what appears to be a bigger sun and not long after, you look up to notice it sitting high in the sky. All this occurs within a few minutes, each and every day.

Moments...with big changes occur, even when we're not looking. And when we do, it's amazing how the colors and shapes of the clouds that greet a sunrise shift and change in miraculous ways.

One of God's ways of saying he's still controlling everything.

We are experiencing a miracle in our own family.

As you know, a few weeks ago, we learned that our daughter and her husband will become parents next summer, with the help of a fertility doctor and their medical staff, and diligent watchfulness on Jamie's part and careful keeping of medicine charts and many appointments. With fertility treatments, though, there's always a chance that multiples will be the result. It took a few weeks for them to be able to tell how many babies she would have.

She called me Thursday morning, from the fertility clinic parking lot--bright and early-- and asked me how many babies I would guess that she was having.

I said "One?"

She said "No, four!"

And...

I was speechless....

And then she said
"No, mom, there's just one!"

Oh, she had me there for awhile. Daddy, too.

Here's our little grandchild in the center of this picture, and looking so much like a small sun on the eastern horizon....

But before we know it, God will perform another one of his ceaseless and amazing miracles like we witness every morning and every evening, and in a short nine months, He will help my daughter's body to form and nurture another person, another soul.

Then we will see the full measure of His goodness in a precious little baby's trusting eyes.

Here's what most would call a "blob", but you cannot tell that to my daughter, her husband, or to the grandparents. This baby has a heart, and it's beating. The fertility clinic has highly sensitive equipment and they let Jamie and her mother-in-law listen and then snap this photo....and Jamie heard this miracle that appears to be soooooo very tiny here, and listened for awhile and watched a graph printout....all a testimony to the promise that is a steady, strong heartbeat.

Thank you God, for this little one that you've trusted Jamie and Thad to welcome and raise.

Thank you that doctors have the knowledge and ability to help those that are like Jamie to know the miracle of life and motherhood.

Thank you for our tiny little promise with its tiny little heartbeat.
