It's a gray, rainy day. But out to the garden he went....to retrieve the fresh onions, straight out of the ground....to be washed, peeled, and chopped and I'll shed more than a few involuntary tears.
And dripping red, ripe sweet tomatoes, both the Big Girl and Roma...all getting a bath, rinsed and getting scalded, and peeled, and quartered.
And out will come the rubber gloves and the peppers will be cut and sliced...the chopped and thrown into the mix.
My new stove will get a workout today. First those red beauties will be scalded in this pot, and then into my big canning pot will go all the wonderful ingredients to make up our yearly batch of salsa! The house is going to smell good today! Off I go in search of my favorite full apron, I'm going to need it!
XOXO

I LOVE to eat salsa but I've never made any homemade salsa. Sounds like fun (except for the onions).
Salsa!!! Yours looks delicious! I'm going to make your recipe. Don't you just love seeing those jars all full and lined up on the shelf!? (:
Salsa is staple in our house, and Hubby makes a killer recipe from our garden produce too.

Yummm... sounds like the perfect thing to do on a gray day.
Looks like fun to me!
I'd love to have your recipe.
I'll be right over! I'll bring the Tostidos! lol
Yum! Fresh salsa is absolutely fabulous! I made a little a couple of weeks ago and the kiddos have already induldged in 3 pints! =) Last week I made peach salsa. We are very anxious to try it!
I have saved your salsa recipe and hope to give it a try next go around.
Enjoy your busy afternoon!

We will be making up a huge batch soon too!! But, sadly, my tomato crop is a serious bust so we will be buying ours. So sad.
We will however be trying out our Serrano peppers this year. Hubby is in charge. Cilantro, chipotle and onions oh my!
BTW - Did you by any chance watch Glenn Beck last night??? I watch snippets on Fox.com.
YIKES!!!! He was talking about the "czars". OH MY GOSH!!!!!!
Where's the chips!!? Chuckle! TTFN ~Marydon
YUMMY, YUMMY! I make salsa from scratch, but not quite as from scratch as you do! I would love to be able to get all of my ingredients from my garden.
Hmmm... I think I need to make some more tomorrow. Your pictures gave me a hankerin' for something spicy!
I couldn't find the link button for ordering some......Must be a mistake, right? I mean, you wouldn't taunt us with pictures of your gorgeous salsa, and not share, would you? Would You!??!
