Walking Through the Year

I've been a walker for years now.

And I've been adjusting where, and when I walk to make the most of the time I am out.

I've finally found the routine that will work for me.  It took me several years.

I have found that first thing in the morning is the only time that makes sense for me because if I get started working around the house, then I never do get my walk done.

I love walking outside, but the weather is too much of an issue to keep a regular schedule, so now I walk indoors.  It works in any kind of weather.  My favorite walking shoe is the Puma.  It took me time to find that out, too.  It's all a process.

Puma, well, all I can say is it's like walking on AIR.
Once I got them broken in, that is.  I found mine for an excellent price at TJ MAXX.  I should have bought two pair, and next time I will.  Because I never want to be without a pair.

My favorite schedule is three days, walking 4-6 miles every other day with weekends off.  Some weeks, I may only get to walk Tuesday and Thursday.  That's fine, too.

Next week, I start Jury Duty, so I'll have to adjust again.

This year, I began the year by taking time to log the miles and in January, to my surprise, I logged ...

58 miles!

I was shocked!

Now I will be looking forward to the last day of each month so I can total my numbers.

I finally kicked my one-can-a-day,  Coca-Cola-on-ice-at-noon habit, too!
I still have a pop every week or two...but not every day.
So far, so good!

So, do you walk, too?

I so need to walk. But, just don't. My hubby and I walk more in nicer weather on weekends together in the mornings before it gets too warm. Or sometimes later in the day after it cools down a bit. Good for you being so disciplined!

Way to go!
Walking is my favorite work-out too, and I love to be outside walking whenever I can.
Glad you found some shoes that work too.... that's about 90% of the battle I've found.

Congrats on kicking the pop habit too. That's a hard one.
I've kicked the pop habit too.. and hoping it'll stick :)

Have a great weekend.

What inspiring places to walk. Your pictures are beautiful. I just kicked my diet coke habit. It's been about a month now and I admit I feel better.

I love walking...but unfortunately think I'll just do one thing before I head out the door! Needless to say, twelve things later and an appt. somewhere and the walking is cast aside. I've been in a cast for 2 months and am dying to get out walking again! You inspire me!!!

Oh, do I ever walk! I started about 25 years ago when I discovered that gym workouts just weren't satisfying enough, that I needed to play outdoors more. Here on the farm I walk 3 or 4 miles almost every day. We live on 55 acres, and we have fairly clear paths that wind by the creek and pond and meadows.

I am a new follower of this lovely blog; I found the link on another country blog and got excited seeing all the photos of Michigan! We left Michigan for North Carolina back in 1983. There's nothing like the beauty of northern Michigan, though, and that's the only part we miss. I grew up in Grand Rapids, my husband in Flint, and we lived in Troy till we moved down here. I invite you to visit my blog "This Country Life". Have a most blessed and abundant day. I know I am going to enjoy your beautiful blog!
